About the event
The scavenger hunt is part of a Gallery Walk held on Sunday, September 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Begin your walk at any of participating businesses and pick up a flier showing small parts of a dozen works of art. Find the originals and enjoy a day of walking into the welcoming spaces where fine art is displayed in downtown Frederick. Gallery Walk DemosNOMA
Lisa Tayerle will be doing a demo during the Gallery Walk on Sunday, September 15th from 1 – 4 pm at NOMA Gallery.
Printmaking Techniques: Etching, Lithography and Relief. The three most widely used methods of printmaking are: metal plate etching, lithography and wood block relief printing. Prints created in all 3 methods will be on display, as well as the tools and materials used to make them. Learn about the processes; see, touch and try the tools and materials used.
TAG
Tom Semmes will paint a small landscape in oils from the sidewalk in front of the TAG Gallery capturing the changing light, architecture and bustling city life directly from observation. He will be working during the hours of the Gallery Walk. (weather permitting).
Painting the Urban Scene “Plein air” is a French term for working out of doors. Tom has been painting outside in the elements for many years. He is an advocate of catching the light and atmosphere of the subject he paints.
Jan McIntyre-Creager will demonstrate the process used in making a 2 or 3 color linoleum print inside TAG from 1 to 4pm on Sunday, September 15th during the Gallery Walk
Creating a linoleum print The demonstration will begin with a sketch on paper and end with inking and pulling a print. See an original print being made and return to see the finished product.
Gallery 322
Ann Schaefer and Anne Gibson Snyder will be demonstrating the art of still life painting during the hours of the Gallery Walk. Linda Kirvan will be demonstrating a plein air painting out in front of the gallery during the hours of the Gallery Walk (weather permitting).
Still Life Painting Indoors and Painting from Life Outdoors Linda Kirvan will work her magic with oil paints on canvas across the street from Gallery 322. Stop by and say “Hello” while Linda attempts to finish a painting in the time of the Gallery Walk! See Ann Schaefer using gouache and Anne Gibson Snyder using watercolor to paint a still life set up inside the gallery. They will be taking turns working on their paintings and will discuss the differences between gouache and watercolor techniques.
