About The Event
Over the past several years, Jan has realized that the diversions in life are as important as the everyday concerns and routine. They spice up life, entertain us and provide joy. The works in this show depict subjects that she has found diverting --scenes during vacations, the light in a garden, objects in her studio that have caught her eye, or even a new color on her palette. Though the subjects differ, they share her use of vibrant color, strong light and varying textures of paint to draw the viewer into the work.
Gallery 322 has shown fine art in its historic downtown Frederick location since 2009, and features paintings, drawings, sculpture and assemblages by Jan Kaufman, Michael Douglas Jones, Linda Kirvan, Ann Schaefer, Russell Schofield, Anne Gibson Snyder, Roberta Staat and Homer Yost. An artist is usually present to discuss the work with visitors. The gallery is open Fridays, 4 to 8, and Saturdays and Sundays, 12 to 5 and by appointment. There will be a First Saturday Opening Reception for "Diversions" on June 1, from 5 to 9 pm.
